About us

NÕMME

About our neighbourhood,

We are located in Nõmme, a peaceful 'forest village' on the edge of Tallinn, which is home to traditional Estonian wooden houses dotted between pine, birch, spruce trees and more. Nõmme was once a separate town before joining Tallinn, although we still like to feel detached from the rest of the world here.

Rangi saun is located at a real home here so we always ask guests to be respectful to our neighbours, particularly when it comes to noise.

The city's ski jump tower looms over us a couple of streets away and from there you can look out over Tallinn. If you have more time, browse Nõmme turg (market) for fresh food or take a wander through our nearby forests and bogs. You might find it hard to believe that you are still in our capital city!

You can easily travel here from Tallinn by train, bus or Taxify/Uber.

Just ask us for details.

You can read more about our 'village within the city' here on the VisitTallinn website.

You wouldn't believe you are still in a capital city while exploring this incredible wilderness.

Ski down hill

Ski down hill

Rangi saun is located in the shadow of a ski jump tower (literally in the late afternoon), but there are various slopes around it open in winter for skis, boards and even tubes.

Browse Nõmme market

Browse Nõmme market

People in Nõmme have been shopping here since before Estonia became a Republic. It's colourful and packed with produce from around Estonia. It's also where we pick up freshly baked bread and other ingredients to enjoy during our sauna sessions.

Visit Glehn Castle (and park)

Visit Glehn Castle (and park)

The founder of Nõmme, Nikolai von Glehn, built this castle in 1886. It's surrounded by a lovely park with some curious features, such as statues of a dragon and our national folk hero Kalevipoeg.

Ski cross-country

Ski cross-country

We don't have many hills in Estonia so cross-country skiiing is very popular. The forest paths beneath Glehn castle are a great place to do it in winter.

Disk golf is an increasingly popular sport in Estonia and we have a great course for it in Nõmme (although you'll have to be quick because it's moving next year to protect the trees here!)

This building was originally a foundry, but was handed over to local worshippers after bankruptcy then recreated as a charming wooden church.
